HUNDREDS OF PHILLIES FANS PACK THE HORSHAM DAYS INN TO SEE THE PHILLIES 2008 WORLD SERIES TROPHY

On a rainy humid Saturday morning in Horsham Pa, the first fans started to line up at 8:00 am to insure their spot to see the Phillies 2008 World Series trophy. Three hours before its scheduled arrival they came dressed in their Phillies tee shirts, or uniform shirts, hats, all sorts of clothing to show their love for this team. The oldest was a 94 year old who had left his home in Delaware at 6:30 am, while the youngest was 2 month old Sean, cradled in his dads arms, not understanding why, but wearing his favorite Phillies tee shirt.

By 9:00 am The line had eventually circled its way down the Days Inn driveway towards busy Route 611. An early estimate had the crowd at more than 500 faithful Phillies fans, all duded out and clutching their digital cameras for that once in a lifetime photograph. At exactly 10:50 am the SUV with its Phillies occupants Craig Solomon, and Tom Brown made its way to the front door to unload their treasure as the long line of fans parted to get a first glimpse of the trunk hosting the trophy. Joanne Zapata, the thoughtful General Manager had decorated the interior of the hotel in a festive arrangement of red & white balloons that gave the appearance of a carnival atmosphere. All in all in was a great day to be a Phillies fan in Horsham, Pennsylvania.

Thank you Phillies for keeping alive that memorable October 2008 day when the trophy’s journey began. Lets do it again, same time, same place, next year. Thank you Horsham Days Inn’s Joanne Zapata for being such a gracious host.
