EMIL MAILHO DEAD AT 97
Emil “Lefty” Mailho spent one year in the major leagues with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1936 but played pro ball from 1930 until 1946, mostly in the Pacific Coast League and the Southern Association.
He passed away March 7 at the age of 97. He was an outfielder and hit over .300 during several seasons.
While he was with Philadelphia just one year, he contributed a great deal to the game of baseball and the Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society extends its deepest sympathy to his family.
His death leaves 65 surviving players with only 10 under the age of 80.
