DELAWARE COUNTY TO HOST MILITARY
BASEBALL ALL STARS
The U.S. Military All-Stars consist of outstanding players selected
from all branches of the military and the U.S. Coast Guard. For
the past 19 years, they have toured the country playing baseball
teams at all levels during their “Red, White and Blue Tour
of America” enjoyed by over 25 million Americans.
This year, the Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame and the Delco
Baseball League have invited the U.S. Military All-Stars to play
against the Delco League. The game is scheduled to be played at
Widener University on June 19th, beginning at 5:45 p.m. Throwing
out the ceremonial first pitch will be Delaware County’s own
Mike Scioscia, former all-star catcher with the Los Angeles Dodgers
and current manager of the Los Angeles Angels.
In conjunction with the game, the Delco League and the U.S. Military
All-Stars invite you to attend our “When Athletes Go To War”
symposium on June 20th, at 11 a.m., featuring several players who
left major league baseball to fight in WW II—among them, Delaware
County’s own Mickey Vernon.
The events will pay tribute to our U.S. military service members
past and present and promise to be a very worthwhile event—that
will, support the mission of the U.S. Military All-Stars to: “Promote
the awareness of all Americans in support of the honorable sacrifices
of our Armed Forces.”
The U.S. Military All-Stars pay their own expenses and participate
while off-duty to ensure all resources support our brave men and
women overseas. The Hall of Fame and the Delco League are asking
for your help to support this great event. We invite you to become
one of 32 sponsors, donating $250 to cover a portion of the expenses.
For your contribution, each sponsor will:
1. Adopt a visiting player and stand with them at our Pre-Game
ceremony.
2. Be mentioned in the Game Day and Symposium programs.
3. Be noted on the Hall of Fame website.
4. Receive 10 reserved tickets to the game and have a chance to
win an official autographed “USA” camouflage game
jersey.
Interested individuals or organizations earn a tax-deductible donation
for helping us sponsor one of our American heroes.
