A'S COLLECTORS FIND EBAY HELPFUL

This writer was a reluctant entry into the computer world. For years I depended upon card shows and publications to find my Athletics collectibles. For the past few years, I have been amazed at how much I could find on ebay, how easy it was to locate items and very often find bargain prices as well. To buy on ebay, one must register which is very simple to do. A buyer may also register for Paypal which pays for the items won and then deducts the amount from a selected credit card or bank account. Some buyers prefer to send a check (where accepted) or a money order. The choice is yours. For security reasons, you will have a bidding name and a password.

Now that you are all set, simply type in "Philadelphia Athletics" in the box and then "search". Also try "Shibe Park" or "Connie Mack Stadium." You can refine your search by using a player's name or item description. Once you enter your bid, take notice of the closing time of the auction. Many items are won in the last 10 or 20 seconds.

If you bid $100 and the next highest bid is $60, you won't have to pay $100, only enough to top the $60 bid. You will also have to add shipping to your winning bid.

Once you receive the item(s), you should leave "feedback" to indicate your satisfaction with the seller. If unhappy, contact the seller before leaving negative feedback. The problem will most likely be resolved without casting aspersions on the seller. The seller will also leave a feedback for you. This system enables buyers and sellers to find out if a person is trustworthy before doing business.

Ebay can also be used to sell your duplicate material but a seller must also register and will pay a small fee for each sale.

Sitting in front of a computer is not as much fun as going to a show, but it is a whole lot more convenient and items can be found instantly instead of wandering from table to table. It is also better than counting sheep on those nights we all experience when sleep will not come.
