About the author: William C. Kashatus, a professional historian
and educator holds a PH.D in history from the University of Pennsylvania.
A regular contributor to the Philadelphia Daily News, he also is
the author of several baseball books, including Connie Mack’s
‘29 Triumph:The Rise and Fall of the Philadelphia Athletics
Dynasty and One-armed Wonder: Pete V Gray, Wartime Baseball, and
the American Dream. He lives in Chester County, Pennsylvania. (Check
